If there’s one thing you should know about me, I’m NOT a morning person. For whatever reason, I was super set on going to the farmers’ market this past Saturday, but farmers’ markets are always a morning thing.
It wasn’t like it was my first time at the farmers’ market, but I ended up going with my partner (I looked very sleepy) and I’m so glad I did. It was the most healing morning I had enjoyed in a long time.
The Downtown Palo Alto Farmers’ Market is quite small in comparison to other ones I’ve been to. I actually liked it more for that; it felt more manageable.
We bought whole wheat levain, fresh challah (probably my new favorite bread ever), fresh produce, fresh pork sausages, fresh flowers…fresh everything! I could not recommend it more. As much as I love Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, shopping at your local farmers’ market gives you more sustainable options, the ability to shop local and support local business, and the chance to buy food that’s accurately in season. I also felt like I knew where my food was actually coming from!
For specifics, one of my favorite vendors is Full Belly Farm for produce and flowers. We picked up the challah from Panorama Baking.
I couldn’t recommend a weekend morning at the farmers’ market more. Going to try to make this a more consistent thing. Feel free to join me. 🙂
