I don’t actually have much to say – I just wish I could give the families of Sandy Hook Elementary School their children back. Maybe it’s having a little brother and just loving children in general, but this horrid news hit very close to home. Politics aside, these were innocent, innocent, young, children. So since I can’t seem to articulate my sadness very well, here are some of my favorite, but heart-wrenching quotes to do it for me:

“Can anything harm us, mother, after the night-lights are lit?”
Nothing, precious,” she said; “they are the eyes a mother leaves behind her to guard her children.” – Finding Neverland

It seems to me that Peter’s trying to grow up too fast. I imagine he thinks that grown-ups don’t hurt as deeply as children do when they… when they lose someone. – Finding Neverland

You’re getting older, and you’ll see that life isn’t like your fairy tales. The world is a cruel place. And you’ll learn that, even if it hurts. – Pan’s Labyrinth

You find a glimmer of happiness in this world, there’s always someone who wants to destroy it. – Finding Neverland

Second to the right and straight on till morning – Peter Pan

A long time ago, in the underground realm, where there are no lies or pain, there lived a Princess who dreamed of the human world. She dreamed of blue skies, soft breeze, and sunshine. One day, eluding her keepers, the Princess escaped. Once outside, the brightness blinded her and erased every trace of the past from her memory. She forgot who she was and where she came from. Her body suffered cold, sickness, and pain. Eventually, she died. However, her father, the King, always knew that the Princess’ soul would return, perhaps in another body, in another place, at another time. And he would wait for her, until he drew his last breath, until the world stopped turning… – Pan’s Labyrinth

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” – Nelson Mandela

“Ohana means family – family means nobody gets left behind.” – Lilo & Stitch

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – A Tale of Two Cities

And it is said that the Princess returned to her father’s kingdom. That she reigned there with justice and a kind heart for many centuries. That she was loved by her people. And that she left behind small traces of her time on Earth, visible only to those who know where to look. – Pan’s Labyrinth

“Hugs can do great amounts of good, especially for children.” – Princess Diana

Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children.  – Kahlil Gibran

“The soul is healed by being with children.” – English Proverb

“You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting.” – Peter Pan
